The database covers all financial property that companies are required by law to report as dormant and hand over to the state. This includes bank accounts, uncashed payroll checks, insurance policy proceeds, stock dividends, utility deposits, and safe deposit box contents. If a company cannot locate you after one to three years of account inactivity, they must transfer those funds to the state. The state then holds them indefinitely until you claim them.

Filing a claim requires a government-issued photo ID and documentation linking you to the property. An old bank statement, W-2, or utility bill from the account address usually works.
